Preconception Planning & Fertility Support

Optimize your fertility with herbs, nutrition, lifestyle changes, and a clear plan

Supporting you on your path to a happy, healthy, pregnancy

Can you relate to any of the following?

  • Your doctor told you to try for a year before coming back for testing, but every month feels like an eternity and you’re wasting precious time (the dreaded 1-year wait)
  • You’ve Googled “how to improve fertility” and after endless scrolling, ended up feeling overwhelmed by all the supplements and herbs that may (or may not) work for you
  • You’ve rolled your eyes when someone told you to “just relax” and you will get pregnant
  • You’re the type of person who wants to do everything possible to prepare for pregnancy

You are not alone and I am so happy you are here.

Here’s the thing: there is a lot you can do in your 1st year of trying. We are all unique. What worked for your friend won’t necessarily work for you. Sometimes you need to do LESS of “everything” but MORE of the “right” things.

How is the 4-Month package structured, and why 4 months?

After working with many people over the years I have found that four months is the right amount of time. It provides the time and structure for us to go deeper into the many obstacles that can impact fertility and make adjustments along the way. Because egg development takes about three months and sperm genesis takes two, the changes you start implementing today will affect the quality of the egg that is released three months from now and sperm that is released in two months. This is why the preconception period is so important.

4 sessions spread out over 4 months provides the time and structure for us to go deeper into the many obstacles that can impact fertility and make adjustments along the way. In addition to your core herb, supplement, and nutritional plan we will cover the following:

  • How to reduce your exposure to environmental toxins that have been linked to fertility and pregnancy issues (simple swaps, nothing drastic or scary!)
  • How to chart your cycle and determine your optimal fertile window (if relevant)
  • How to incorporate movement and exercises to improve fertility
  • How to eat and drink for optimal fertility
  • How to support your circadian rhythm and get better sleep (which can improve fertility!)
  • How to support stress so you can move through this journey more supported and calm

Why I understand your journey and how I can help

Hi, I am Liane Moccia and I’m a registered clinical herbalist with a specialty in fertility. I also struggled with infertility so I understand how it feels to be deeply disappointed every month. To wondering if I am doing everything possible.

I was so frustrated (and scared) during that first year of trying that I even lied to my doctor. I am not proud to admit this, but it’s true. After 8 months of trying I didn’t want to just “try for 1 year” then start the investigation process. So, when I went to my OB, I lied and said we had been trying for a year when it had only been about 8 months (spoiler alert, she was on to me and encouraged me to keep going and wait out the full year).

Don’t get me wrong, I love (and respect!) my doctor… I was just desperate.  I was willing to do anything.  Maybe you can relate?

In reality, there was SO MUCH MORE I could have done during that first year of “just trying”. I have seen the difference that herbs and nutrition can make with menstrual cycle support and overall health and I wish I had known to optimize this for myself. I wish I knew then what I know now.

After finally being referred to a specialist I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. Three IUIs and four IVF cycles later we finally conceived our twin daughters who are happy and healthy teens today.

Looking back, I couldn’t understand why there weren’t more options for me during that first year besides just trying on our own. Why didn’t anyone ask about my diet, check for certain vitamin deficiencies or hormone imbalances, or talk to me about environmental exposures?

Knowing there was more I could have done to support my fertility fueled my passion to help others. I went back to school, studied herbalism, became a certified herbalist, was accepted as a peer-reviewed registered professional herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild, and completed a year-long mentorship with a renowned naturopathic fertility doctor in Boston.

Now I help people optimize their fertility through herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. Having a clear plan can take so much pressure off you when you are trying to conceive.

You have much more control over your fertility (and your partner’s) than you may realize!  But everyone is unique. Just because something worked for one person doesn’t mean it will work for you. Google can be awesome for finding a new recipe for dinner… but overwhelming, and sometimes unsafe, for cracking your personal fertility code. Many of the popular fertility recommendations on the internet are not safe or appropriate for everyone, especially if you are taking certain medications or preparing for an IUI or IVF cycle.

You don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can come up with a plan that is specific to you and your unique situation. My goal when we work together is that in addition to creating a plan that supports your fertility and health, you won’t have to wonder and worry if you are doing everything possible to get pregnant, stay pregnant, and have a healthy baby.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When is the best time to start working together? Ideally, we would start optimizing your fertility 4-6 months before you want to start trying to get pregnant. But, we can work together at any point in your fertility journey – whether you are still planning, trying on your own in the “one year wait”, have been trying without success (yet), have experienced a loss, or are going through assisted reproductive therapies (such as IUI or IVF), we can work together.
  • Do you work with people who are preparing for or undergoing IUI or IVF? Yes! I work with people before, during, or after IUI or IVF to safely prepare the body and assist in recovery after procedures.
  • Do you work with people who have been given a diagnosis of “unexplained infertility”? Absolutely! I don’t consider “unexplained infertility” a diagnosis. It just means no one has been able to find a reason that you haven’t conceived (yet). Herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle changes can have a big impact on the factors that could be getting in the way of you getting pregnant.
  • Do you work with women who are over 35 years old? Yes! Egg quality can be affected as we age, but there are things that we can do to support our eggs and ovulation.
  • What about working with people with other diagnoses that contribute to infertility? In general, yes. The following can all benefit from a holistic fertility plan: PCOS, endometriosis, premature ovarian failure (or premature ovarian dysfunction), irregular or missing menstrual cycles, sperm quality issues (sometimes called “male factor infertility”).
  • Are there any infertility diagnoses that you don’t work with? While I feel a holistic herbal plan can help almost anyone by improving overall health which can then improve fertility, there are a few situations that herbs and nutrition may not be enough. For example, blocked or missing fallopian tubes or azoospermia (no sperm). We could work together to support your health and your partner’s, but the underlying condition would need to be addressed with a specialist in that area.
  • Do you work with single people? Absolutely. Working on your fertility can help optimize your chances of conceiving, whether you are using donor sperm/egg or other methods. Click here to schedule 4-Month (one person).
  • Do you work with LGBTQ+ people? Yes! I am happy to support all people on their fertility journey.
  • I am interested in the 4-Month Package but I don’t have a partner, or we are using donor sperm. Do you have a 4-Month Package for one person only? Yes! We will cover the same basic topics but skip the sperm support. Price is reduced to reflect. Click here to schedule 4-Month (one person).
  • Are sessions conducted together or separate? If you purchase the “4-Month Support (both partners)” we will customize a plan for both of you during our first session. Both partners should attend the first session together. For the remaining sessions, it is your choice if you would like to both attend our sessions or one partner can attend and provide updates.
  • Is the cost of herbs or supplements included? No, herbs and supplements are not included in the price of the consultation but will be discussed so there are no surprises. You will order herbs and supplements on your own.
  • Do you sell any of the herbs and supplements? I don’t make or sell herbs or supplements. You will be given a list of recommendations and will have the option to purchase through my online practitioner’s dispensary (Fullscript) or purchase on your own.
  • What if I get pregnant during the 4 Month Support? First, we celebrate! Then, we use the remaining sessions to help you support a healthy pregnancy, manage any of the pregnancy-related symptoms you may experience, and continue to limit your exposure to environmental toxins. This is especially important as you start buying baby items and setting up your nursery. There are a lot of decisions to make and I can help.
  • What if we have a 1 Time Analysis and Action Plan appointment and I want to schedule a follow-up? You can schedule a 45-minute follow-up appointment at any time ($125)
  • What if I am not trying to get pregnant but want help with stress, sleep, or hormonal support? I have appointments specifically designed for people who are not trying to get pregnant but would like my support. You can learn more here.
  • What is a Registered Herbalist? The RH (Registered Herbalist) credential offered through the American Herbalists Guild is an acclaimed and widely recognized committee-reviewed credential available to herbalists in the US.
  • Do you accept health insurance? Although not currently covered by health insurance, clients may choose to use their Health Savings Account (HSA) funds to see a RH. Check with your plan to confirm eligibility.
